Mixed XI retain the T1 National Title

Congratulations to the Mixed XI on retaining the England Hockey Tier 1 Mixed National title for 2018/19 this weekend down at Lee Valley.

With a proven track record in this competition the Mixed XI headed down to Lee Valley for the weekend to defend their National title. Led by Captain Dex the team did not disappoint and cruised to a 9-2 victory in the semi-final vs Oxton HC, with goals for Si (3), Maddy (2), Jonesy, Dom, Emma and Ben.

The final was a closer affair against a determined Southgate team. Claudia opened the scoring with a clinical finish after a fantastic dribble up the pitch from Matti Thomas beating several defenders on his way. Matti's delivery across goal was smartly volleyed in to the net by Claudia, who had missed Saturday's semi-final as she was training with England U16s. Kazzy doubled the lead when she beat two Southgate defenders before rattling the ball past the goakeeper.

In the second half, our guest GK Will Murphy made some impressive saves and our stalwart defensive team of Katie, Anna and Scout showed their grit against some physically powerful attackers running at them full pelt! Back at the other end of the pitch, Hannah launched a ball in to the circle which was smartly finished by Dom to make it 3-0. Southgate rallied in the late stages and did score twice but we managed to hold on for the victory which rounded off the season superbly.

As ever, thanks to our amazing mixed sponsors Stratstone BMW and The Bulls Head Repton, the mixed hockey programme gives many of our younger members the opportunity to play with, and learn from, some of our older, experienced players. One of the most memorable moments this season, other than Dex lifting the National trophy, has to be the Mixed XI win against Banbury HC with a team which included three of our U14 girls who stepped up to play alongside GB star Ellie Watton!

We are now offering 1:1 and small group skills sessions with senior RHC coach Lloyd Madsen at Repton Astros through June.

U11s and U13s June Match Play Sessions

Lloyd Madsen (Men's XI player and coach) will be running mini match play sessions for the U13s and below on Sunday afternoons in June at the Repton School Astros.

U11 and U13 Match Play Sign Up Form

It is £5.00 pay and play (to be invoiced) and the timings are:

Sunday June 2nd 12pm - U11 boys and girls; 1pm - U13 boys and girls

Sunday June 9th and Sunday June 16th 2pm - 3pm - U11 boys and girls; 3pm - 4pm - U13 boys and girls

(Please note these age groups are based on the current season i.e. age at 1 Sept 2018. U13 is year 7 and 8 U11 is year 5 and 6 )

U14s Nationals 2019

The Frederick Cooper U14 boys and SCC UK U14 girls were both at Reading HC last weekend as one of the top eight teams in the country who had qualified for the England Hockey Tier 1 Nationals.

The boys had an amazing day with close pool games against Winchester (2-1), Surbiton (0-1) and Norwich (3-3) before storming to victory in the 3rd/4th play off against Bowdon (3-0) to take the bronze medal! Read the team match report online at :

U14 Boys Nationals Match Report

Thank you to coaches Simon, Jonesy and team manager Sam for all their efforts over the season and we are looking forward to exciting times ahead for this talented team.

The girls knew they had big shoes to fill after the boys' performance and did not disappoint with some impressive hockey and team work in some very closely contested pool games. The girls drew their first two group games against Harlestone Magpies (1-1) and eventual runners up Sevenoaks (1-1). They needed 3 points to qualify for the play offs in their final group game against Clifton but unfortunately were not able to find the winner in a tight game which ended 0-1. The girls should be incredibly proud of their amazing season in their first year together which has included a tour to Rotterdam, the Copperbox indoor tournament and an impressive outdoor Championship campaign. The season is not yet over though as many of the U14 boys and girls are playing in the Derby Grand Slam indoor tournament on May 26th!

Thank you to Russell and Jonesy for their coaching this season and manager Jamie for his support of the team throughout 2018/19.

U14 Girls Rotterdam Tour

The SCC U14 girls had a fantastic weekend at the Rotterdam Easter Tournament and came away with a silver medal after an impressive team performance.

Thanks must go to U14 Girls Manager Jamie for his sterling efforts organising the entire tour - the girls will have fantastic memories of their first club tour and the parents and supporters were all grateful for his hard work to ensure the whole trip ran smoothly. Thanks to Head Coach Martin Jones and to our U14 girls sponsor, SCC, Europe's largest independent technology solutions company.

U12s and U14s Indoor Summer Sessions 2019

The club have entered boys and girls U12s and U14s teams into the inaugural Indoor Hockey Tournament being held at Derby Velodrome (U12s May 25th, U14s May 26th). With the water based astro being re-laid during the summer months, hockey training is therefore moving in to the fantasic new sports hall at Repton School with indoor skills sessions being led by Martin Jones and Lloyd Madsen. This is a great opportunity for our youngsters to learn the indoor game and all squad members are invited to sign up using the following link:
