Launch Day - 11 Sept 2016

On a beautiful, sunny Sunday Repton Hockey Club (RHC) launched with inaugural matches against Stourport HC fielding six teams in the boys and girls U14s, U16s and U18s. It was a delight to see 200 young hockey players testing themselves against each other. A big thank you must go to Stourport for making the day so successful as they had availability issues and managed to draw on other local clubs to bring full competitive sides. We hope to emulate this type of relationship as we develop. The event was strongly supported by enthusiastic parents as well as from the local community. Our primary goal is to have members playing and enjoying hockey and in this respect the day can be viewed as a resounding success.

Young umpires were used to assist with their development and a special mention must be made to Freddie Cheshire who managed three back to back games. These matches will help him prepare for his umpiring in the upcoming JRPC cluster competitions.
The Club is a community effort and this was evident from all the support that was offered by Repton School, for the use of the facility, as well as the army of supporters marshalled into action by Kate, our social secretary. A big thank you to all those who helped, it is truly appreciated.
A big well done to the players, the coaches, the administration team, the helpers on the day from the match managers to the caterers. Also a thank you to the incredibly supportive parental body - any junior section of any sport relies on this and it is immensely important. Finally, the Club Sponsors and supporters must also be recognised for their support which is fundamental to the club. So thank you to Tandem, SCC, MT13, BMW Stratstone Derby, The Bulls Head and Repton School.
