Mens XI

The Repton Bulls Head Mens XI travelled to Nottingham Trent University (NTU) on Saturday for their East Midlands Premier league fixture and came away with a 5-2 win. The League reshuffle this summer resulted in both teams being in the same league despite Repton’s League victory last season.

The corresponding fixture last year saw NTU inflict Repton’s only defeat to date so when NTU raced to a two-nil lead, it seemed as though history was repeating itself. Stuart Kentwell gave the visitors hope though when he steered in a loose ball just before the break. The second half was a much more pleasing performance from Repton HC as they scored four unanswered goals.  A refocus and reminder of how to approach the game from the coaching team resulted in some excellent work and goals. The equaliser came from a penalty flick after the NTU goalie clumsily took out Martin Jones before the umpire oddly sent a defender to the sinbin rather than the GK. Jones then added a deft trade mark backhand before James Johnson added to his tally with another good deflection. Scoring was rounded off with a final goal from Martin Asborno from a neat Penalty Corner move.

The Mens XI now sit top of the league with two other unbeaten teams being student sides, Loughborough 3s and Nottingham 3s who have played one less game due to the concessions they receive to play games in term time. Repton take on Loughborough University 3s at home this coming Saturday at 12pm.

Mens XI

The Repton Stratstone BMW ladies teams both played away on 13 October 2018.  The 1st XI travelled to fellow Derbyshire Club Belper where they played their 2s in the Ladies East Midlands feeder league. Repton maintained their winning form with a 6-1 win. This confined Belper to their third league loss and pleasing for the coaching team was that Repton managed to register six different goal scorers emphasising the balance of the team. This result leaves Repton 1s with three wins from three games along with Nottingham University 2s and Derby Ladies 1s all on 9 points but Repton top the table on the basis of goal difference.  This coming Saturday Repton play Ashbourne 1s who are mid-table at 12pm at home.

Ladies 2s

The Ladies 2nd XI travelled to Ashbourne to play their 2s in the Derbyshire Ladies Division 1 league and ran out 10-0 winners. There were five goal different goals scorers and a notable four goals from youngster Charlotte Steele. The team is proving a good development opportunity for the club as young players are getting the opportunity to develop and “Back 2 Hockey” members are graduating to league hockey as evidenced by the age range in excess of 30 years in the team.  The Repton 2s have moved up to second in the league with Burton 2s topping the table. Next week the Repton 2s play Matlock 2s at home at 4.30pm at home.
