Opening weekend of the League Season

This weekend saw the opening league fixtures for our Mens and Ladies teams as well as match action for our U14 boys and girls.
Our U14 boys, in their new Frederick Cooper shirts, started the hockey weekend off in style hosting Belper HC on Friday evening and cruising to a 7-0 victory in their first game together. Coached by Simon Claris, our Mens XI new signing, the boys played some really mature hockey and it looks to be a very exciting season ahead for this talented group!
Our Stratstone BMW Ladies 2s played their first ever league fixture in Derbyshire Division 1 against 2017/18 League high fliers Staveley HC. The Bulls Head Mens XI, playing in the East Midlands Premier division, travelled to Rugby for their opening fixture and secured a 10-1 win, establishing their ambitions to secure promotion again this season. Mens XI Match Report
The newly promoted Stratstone BMW Ladies 1s played their first game in the Midlands Leagues hosting Loughborough Town. Looking for year on year promotion the Ladies certainly started their season in style with a 14-0 victory under new coach Tom's guidance. There were four goals for Claudia, a hat-trick for new signing and U16 girls coach Emma, braces for Emilia and U14 player Miranda with Imo, Bea and Ellie also adding to the tally.
The SCC U14 Girls were fortunate to be invited to make the journey to Surbiton HC on Sunday for two games against some talented opposition from the largest club in the UK. Thanks to manager Jamie for all his organisation and efforts as this was a really worthwhile experience for the squad at the start of what looks set to be a successful season for the team!
