U14 Girls 3rd at T1 National Finals!

The SCC U14 girls secured equal 3rd place in the National Tier 1 2017/18 EH Championships this weekend at Lee Valley. Earning their place as Midlands Regionals Winners the girls played Harleston Magpies (1-2 Emily Thompstone), Sevenoaks (1-1 Hannah Tjon Soei Len) and Reading (2-1 Miranda Jackson, Hannah Tjon Soei Len). A loss, draw and win was enough to place them second in the pool and , with no classification matches, equal 3rd with Clifton Robinsons HC.
Led by Captain Claudia Swain the girls played maturely and grew in confidence and energy throughout the day. With only 14 players available the whole squad played an important part and, although the team were disappointed not to have reached the Final they should be incredibly proud of all they have achieved this season and look forward to exciting times ahead with the club as some of them move up into the U16 age group. Many thanks to all the girls for the way they conducted themselves and to all their parents who have supported the club with enthusiasm this season. Thanks and Farewell to coach Sarah who has been such an inspiration to the girls and we wish her the very best of luck in her new role at Epsom College. The enormous task of organising the girls logistics at both the Regionals and Nationals fell to manager Abby and the club and players are very grateful to her for all her hard work this season - THANK YOU!
Finally, thanks to SCC for their sponsorship of the team. For a new club, in only its second season, to reach the National Finals two years running at this age group is an amazing achievement and is in no small part due to the support and commitment from all of our sponsors to help fund the level of elite coaching required to achieve this goal.
