Just a reminder our summer sessions start down at Repton Astros this week with U12s & U14s on Thursday evening 6.30pm-8pm and U16s & U18s on Friday evenings 6.30pm-8pm.

Also Back 2 Hockey is running as usual on Thursday evenings from 8pm for adults.

Congratulations to our SCC U14 Girls who had a fantastic Regional Tournament this Sunday at Thirsk Hockey Club, qualifying for the Nationals at Lee Valley on Sunday 14th May.

 

The girls started the tournament with a 2-0 victory over Sheffield and grew in confidence as the day went on beating hosts Thirsk 4-0 and finally Belper 6-0 with a brilliant display of hockey by the entire team. This is a true reflection of the great season our U14 Girls have had - with 48 goals scored for and only 1 goal against through the entire 2016/17 season to date. Well done to the whole squad on a remarkable season and we hope the girls will have an amazing experience at the National Finals in May. With many thanks to our hosts, Thirsk Hockey Club, for all the organisation and hospitality throughout the day and to our U14 Girls' sponsors, SCC.

As the club looks to expand next season we would really like to
encourage our members, supporters and parents or family members
to become more involved with Repton Hockey Club. There are a
number of opportunities and areas that your help would be very
welcome but particularly in the areas of PR, marketing, coaching
and umpiring.

To this end we are planning to arrange both an Introduction to
Hockey Coaching Course and a Level 1 Umpiring Course to be run at
Repton Sports Centre. Please do get in touch (email to
secretary.reptonhc@gmail.com)  if you would like to help in
anyway - we need to confirm numbers for the coaching and umpiring
courses by early April. Both courses will be run over a weekend
later in the summer.


The Coaching Course is suitable for all potential coaches, even
with limited hockey experience, aged 16 years or older. It is a
day long workshop to help you develop the skills for coaching
hockey with confidence ensuring that the sessions you take are
safe, suitable and inspiring for the players you coach.

The Level 1 umpiring course is suitable for anyone aged 14 years
or older and is delivered over one full day. Participants who
have completed the course, including the pre course Online Rules
Test, will be accredited as an England Hockey L1 umpire. This is
a really useful qualification for any of our current junior
members who are looking to become involved in officiating matches
and for parents who would like to take on a more active role in
the club matches.

Please note junior training this week is for the U14 Girls on Thursday 23rd 6.30pm-8pm at Repton Astros.

Back 2 Hockey continues on Thursday evenings this week and through the Easter holidays from 8pm - 9pm with all adults, of all standards, welcome. Sessions are on a pay per play basis (£5) and involve skills training as well as some match play. Hockey sticks and shin pads provided if necessary so, as the evenings get warmer, come and join the growing number of Repton Hockey Club B2H players ...and please join us afterwards at the Bulls Head!

This week the club was delighted to receive a letter from HRH The Countess of Wessex. This explained how our members will be able to receive tickets, ahead of the general public, for the 2018 Women's Hockey World Cup to be held at Queen Elizabeth Park. As soon as we receive further details we will pass on information so as many RHC members as possible have the opportunity to watch the top 16 hockey nations in action in London!
